I so appreciate your writing! There is much about the workings of the Holy Spirit and how He manifests to us that we do not recognize. Moreover, you are absolutely correct in stating that it is faith that brings understanding. A natural mind indeed, cannot fathom the things of the Spirit. Your statement about the "smell of death" being highly recognizeable to those hungering after life brought revelation in itself to my daughter and I. Again, I thank you for taking the time to post and may you be continuously blessed in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ!

Scott, I think the worst disaster of all is the loss of freedom, even worse, the loss of being able to define freedom. One teacher in FWISD is getting fired for saying he did not vote for Obama because he is a baby-killer. I see a trend toward the party line where anyone who criticizes the President will be suspect. I think Homeland Security will be one of the most hated institutions in America in the years to come. I have other misgivings about the upcoming years but won't share them here

Hi Tracy,

Bless you greatly in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Your question, like that of so many debated issues all through the years such as the concept of baptisms, can be answered by two means. Both means are required for truth to be known; namely the word and the Spirit.

Again as I said in my writing, one must comb the word but then hear from the Holy Spirit to finalize the concept. The problem is that so many people build theologies on what they read alone. Worse, many build theologies on what they mentally concluded from only snippets of the word, while wholesale rejecting other scriptures that contain the real answer. The result are thousands of different opinions on any one issue. This is exactly what I speak of in much of my writings.

There is no scriptural evidence that suggests that we will be taken up prior to hard times in the world.

The Holy Spirit was given at the point of the Cross so that we would be able to walk through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil. What this means is that we are supposed to be here in times of great trouble so as to save those who are savable. The key ingredient is the supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit. You have nothing to worry about in times of tribulation if you are filled with the Holy Spirit. Even greater will be the wonderful successes you will see when the Holy Spirit ministers through you to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead and see many saved. Though even if all hell is breaking loose around you, you will move in the joy of your salvation as you lead others out of worldly fear into that very same joy!

However, besides what I have just said, allow the Holy Spirit to speak truth into your heart as you read the word of God for yourself. You will find that He will show you what He wants you to see in the word. Don't be surprised if what Father gives you in revelation departs from conventional thinking on any given issue? So I pray the fullness of he Holy Spirit both on you and in you as you seek on your own to confirm what I have just suggested.

Main point is to be very careful what you hear, particularly when it comes from the religious church. Not to suggest disrespect to those who are leading you, rather that you know that you have a Councilor who is ready and able to show you the real truth on any given issue. And, that you know that the Lord will open doors for you to release that which he has given you.

Bless you!

I spent 4 hours at the foot of the Jefferson Memorial, painting prophetically and worshiping with Master's Movement Liturgical Dance Company and a dozen other teams. It was glorious. I was expecting warfare and it was the most free spiritual environment I have experienced in years. I was the only white person on the team that day out of about 75 people. As the black preachers and worshipers proclaimed Jesus, the name of Jesus echoed all around the mall. I was filled with deep, deep hope for our nation.

I spent four days with these precious, chosen, children of God. These whole hearted lovers of Jesus and mighty, mighty Kingdom warriors. I did not see any McCain for President buttons. They were praying sincerely for the election and for the candidates, and ftheir safety. (In a nation with a growing skin head movement safety is often on their minds.)

Jesus is not a Republican and Jesus is not a Democrat. Jesus IS! We forget that. The decay of the traditional church is reflected in the decay of the Republican party. The hierarchical systems are breaking down as it should.

I live in a very white world. This last year God has brought me into contact with more precious black skinned men and women than I have known in years. So many shared their hearts, at first hesitantly then enthusiastically. Some had not had a white person hear them before. There were so many that I took noticed and I listened. I listened to their hearts and I listened for God's heart concerning what they were pouring out. I came to believe very strongly that if Barack Obama were to lose the election the nation would have been divided irreparably. Not that any of those who shared with me would have taken action against the nation, but that they were without hope for a place IN the nation. Without hope to truly be PART of the nation.

It is hard to understand this in a white body, but I believe that God's hand is still strong and it is a season to look and look very hard at WHO has been created in the image of God. Can I truly look into the dark eyes of another and see one created in the image of God?

It is time to challenge the assumptions we live by. What is truly God's heart and what is tradition and culture. Discerning the difference requires extreme humility.

I am so thankful for Scott encouraging prayer for our leaders. We, as a body, need to repent for the abuses towards Bill Clinton. A brother in Christ by his own declaration and "we" the church cursed him and continue to do so. We are so mean spirited and we are known by that mean spirit, not by love. It is a season where we need to love deeply and sacrificially. I hear all the doom and gloom, but I was there in the mall in DC and God was there, present and not the least bit worried.

Condemnation will not unite us. The world does NOT KNOW Christians by love. It is time to grow up and walk out love. That will entail getting our hands dirty.

Today I received an email from an acquaintance whose religious beliefs are very different from mine ( often entailing the mean spirited side of religiosity) but she is offering to adopt a premature baby who is about to be removed from life support. Wow.

Love could take us to some interesting places these next four years. Maybe we will grow to be known for more than what we are against. Maybe we will learn to be free and to set others free.

That is what I am praying for.

Scott, I received a very similar word from the Lord the morning after the election. I just kept hearing John 13:34-35: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I fully agree that the church must learn from our loveless behavior during the Clinton administration. God is giving us another chance - a golden opportunity to repent from the walk of judgment, the flesh and selfish, eros love and walk in the direction of agape love toward those who have not yet had their eyes enlightened to the truths we hold dear. As we fervently pray for the eyes of our friends to be enlightened instead of judging them in our heart and cursing them with our mouths (James 3:9-10), OUR hearts will be transformed with LOVE for our "enemies".

It's time to wake up to the love of Christ church! It's time to cease our fleshly labors with our mouth and join the agape war from our knees by praying in the Spirit.

Scott, I agree!. We need to pray everyday for our nation and leaders. We so easily forget to do so when we have a Christian leader in office. We have a God of miracles and he expects us to do our part. He is calling us to take part and not to run and hide. In a Bible study I learned this week that "Assured victory does not mean an easy win and that we don't have to win big to WIN." In 1 Samuel 30:7-31; it says that 400 men got away in the battle, but God won a victory." Yes, Barak won but we won on the marriage proposition and we can win on all the other issues. Does it matter who's in office if we take all the other battles and show the world what we really believe. Don't quit; put your armor on and fight the battle because we have already won.
